Rubylee Laverne McGowan was born on July 21st, 1932 in Houston, TX to Herman A. and Olga M. Grimm. She entered into her eternal home on August 22, 2016. Ruby was a long time employee of Uncle Ben’s / Mars Food N.A. For many years she attended and was actively involved in the ministries of St. Philip Lutheran Church and Concordia Lutheran Church in Houston. She served others through her gifts of hospitality and friendship even in her last days. Rubylee is reunited in Heaven with her parents, her husband, Bobby Ray McGowan, her son Richard, and her brothers, Elroy, Charles and Larry Grimm. Her surviving family will miss her dearly and include her sister, Alene Bauer, her children, Karen Carlin, Peggy Billings, Mark McGowan, and son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Ann Harrah. Her beloved grandchildren include, Christen Tupa, Kevin and Kathryn Carlin, Melissa Ramon, Nicholas Ramon, Christopher and Hilary McGowan, Katelyn and Andrew Boyle, Shelli McGowan and Peter McGowan, and great-grandchildren, Lexi and Stephen Tupa II, Taylor Tupa, Mason Ramon, Garrett Carlin and Rebekah McGowan. Ruby left a legacy of loving and serving others and devotion to Jesus Christ. We hope to follow her example. A service of Memory and Celebration of Life will held at 9:30 am on Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4115 Blalock Road, Houston, Texas 77080. In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Ruby’s legacy, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Concordia Lutheran Church.
