Services for Michael H. Barker, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2016, at Central Pentecostal Church with Bro. Garvin Pulley and Bro. Mack Swain officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline. Interment will be in Shields Cemetery. Mr. Barker passed away May 20, 2016, in Mt. Pleasant. He was born July 28, 1950, in Dallas, to Howard Ocie & Helen Louise Prestidge Barker. He spent his early years in Dallas and Grand Saline before moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1974. He was a member of Life Tabernacle AG and was a TXU Supervisor when he first retired after 30 years of service He also retired from City of Mt. Pleasant as the Water Treatment Lab Operator after 7 years of service. Michael and Wanda traveled for about 4 years after Michael first retired. He was a member of the Texas Mule Association and played league baseball in Mt. Pleasant. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Howard Barker; grandparents, Jim & Abbie Prestidge; and in-laws, Emmanuel Franklin & Elizabeth Parker. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wanda Barker of Mt. Pleasant; mother, Helen Barker Marett of Grand Saline; two sons, Michael J. Barker of Mt. Pleasant and Kenneth E. Barker of Longview; brother, David G. Barker of Irving; two grandchildren, Justin Travis Barker and Rachael Victoria Barker, both of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Joe Garcia, James Bradley, Greg Spigner, Eddie Alfred Stanley, Eddie Williams, Gary McBay & Bobby Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Baker, Cody Swain & Mack Newton. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., Monday at the church.
