Services for Mr. H.C. “Preacher” Davis, 98, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2016, at Corinth Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery. H.C. “Preacher” Davis was born September 30, 1917, in Grand Saline, where he lived his entire life. He was married 70 years to his wife, Lavern Peel Davis. Preacher Davis worked as a farmer and truck driver and retired from Mallory Propane Company. He joined Corinth Missionary Baptist Church as a young man and is still a member there. He also served on the Corinth Cemetery Association board. He is preceded in death by his parents, A.C. “Pat” and Eva Vineyard Davis. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Davis Clinkscales; one granddaughter, Amanda Shaw and her husband, Justin Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Diane Shaw and Tricia Shaw; and numerous other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Harpole Davis, James Davis, Bobby Anderson, Fernando Maciel, Mickey Maciel, Marvin Wilhite and Gerald Denton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Corinth Cemetery Association. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. The family wishes to thank his caregiver, Dawn Montgomery. Also a special thanks to Moressa Bain, the P.A., Mindy Prock and Country Trails Care Center.
