ARLINGTON -- Richard Lawrence Nunez, 66, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: 1 p.m., Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane A. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Richard was born on Aug. 9, 1949, in Los Angeles to Elizario Nunez Jr. and Theresa Molina Nunez. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam Era. An Arlington resident since 1981, he retired as a captain for the Dallas Fire Department after 25 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for nine years with El Paso Fire Department and DFW Public Safety. Richard was preceded in death by his father. Survivors: Wife of 44 years, Irene Cano Nunez; sons, Ricky Nunez and Mike Nunez and wife, Laurie; mother, Theresa M. Nunez; brothers, Steve Nunez and Dan Nunez; grandchildren, Mikey, Jacob, Alyssa, Sammy, Sabrina and Adrian; and a host of family members from El Paso and California.
