Annette Girard Funeral services for Annette Armstrong Girard, 76, of Clute will be held on October 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Palms Funeral Home in Angleton. Visitation will begin at noon. Graveside services will follow at Restwood Cemetery in Lake Jackson, Texas. Annette Armstrong Girard, passed from this world on October 3, 2016 in Clute, TX, after an enduring battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The big sister out of three, Annette was born August 31, 1940 in Robertson County, Texas to William Wade Armstrong and Ruby Pearl Bolton Armstrong. “Baby Ann,” as her mother often called her, moved with her family to “Camp Chemical” in 1943 and later to Clute in 1946 while her father worked for Dow Chemical. She attended school there in Clute until enrolling in Brazosport High School in Freeport, where she graduated in 1958. Annette worked at a few different companies in Brazoria County before joining Brazosport College in Payroll Administration and HR, where she worked for 35 years and eventually retired. On September 10, 1971, Annette married John Lee Girard, merging together a family of four children whom they raised in Angleton, Texas. Annette and Johnny’s time together endured every test, as they only briefly parted from the time of his passing in 2015 until she recently left to join him. Affectionately known as “Momma” or “Meemee,” depending on the generation, Annette loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in this world. She instilled kindness, love and proper manners in all the children she raised, regardless of era. Other great loves of hers were her kitties, her flower gardens, cooking and writing recipes and riding to the pasture with Johnny to meet the new baby calves. Annette was also a master craftswoman in crochet and an adept gamer of Tetris. Annette is survived by her son Darin Mitchell and daughter-in-law Donna Mitchell of Lake Jackson, TX; step-son Michael Girard and daughter-in-law Kristen Girard of Austin, TX; step-daughter Michele Girard of Austin, TX; God-daughter Carol Fleming of Angleton; sisters Patsy Armstrong Faulkner of Lake Jackson, TX and Nelda Armstrong Hartley of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren Cory McPartland and wife Cody McPartland, Kace and Kinsey Layton, Kaili and Ryan Mitchell, Geoffrey and Micaela Yule, Mila and Jessa Girard; great-grandchildren Kyla, Jace, Auvriella and Riley Ann McPartland, James and Kiera Kelley and Kayson Jordan. She is preceded in death by her parents William Wade Armstrong and Ruby Pearl Bolton Armstrong, her husband Johnny Girard (Big John) and her daughter Rhonda Ann Layton. Serving as pallbearers will be Darin Mitchell, Cory McPartland, Kace Layton, Tyrus Jeffers, Don Schultz, Danny Leist and Kirk Smith. Special thanks to the Creekside Village Staff and Heart to Heart Hospice nurses Brandi Vandergrifft and Tracey Hall for all of their loving care.
