James Clawson Obituary

James Drew (Jim) Clawson October 8, 1939 ~ August 27, 2016 James Drew (Jim) Clawson, age 76, left this earth with flights of angels on Saturday, August 27, 2016. Jim was born on October 8, 1939, in Danbury, Texas to Mary and Jerry Clawson. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jake Clawson. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, who has been his partner in life since March 26, 1988. Evelyn and Jim have one son, Bob Compton, and three grandchildren, Key, Landen, and Brionna. Jim’s life will be forever cherished in the memories of his surviving siblings: Tommy Clawson, Mary Ann Albritton, Patsy and Gerald Peltier, Bennie Clawson, Alma and David Jennings, Joyce and Harold Peltier, Linda and Ken Piper and Janelle and Fred Williamson, all residents of his beloved Danbury. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Bobby Stephens and wife Shannon and more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews than he could count (and most of the time name). Jim never met a stranger. His influence will forever remain in the lives of anyone whose path crossed his in a restaurant, outside the Danbury Food Market, or pretty much anywhere in Brazoria County. Jim graduated from Danbury High School in 1957 and went on to faithfully serve the community and the county for the remainder of his years. He was co-owner of Jaco Construction in Clute, Texas until 1991, when he took the office of Brazoria County Commissioner, Precinct 2. Jim was reelected for three additional terms and was devoted to the position until his retirement in 2006. In his last years, Jim and Evelyn enjoyed traveling, and Jim especially enjoyed a Jeep ride out to his lake with anybody who “dared” to ride with him. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 31, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Danbury from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a donation to Danbury Civic Club, PO Box 457, Danbury, TX, 77534. The Jim Clawson Fund will be used to purchase an item of memory in his name. Services lovingly fulfilled by Palms Funeral Home 2300 East Mulberry Angleton, Texas 77515 (979) 849-4343.
