Barbara Morisse Angleton, Texas Obituary

Barbara Morisse

Barbara Lynn Scheffler Morisse of Angleton, Texas passed away at her home on Sunday, June 26, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Nordheim, Texas on June 19, 1933, to Dr. Daniel Charles and Virgie Sally Scheffler. Barbara graduated from Nordheim High School in 1950 and attended the University of Texas, Austin. In 1953, she married Bruce Henry Morisse and they moved to Freeport, Texas where he began his newspaper career in advertising with the Freeport Facts Review. Barbara spent much of her time keeping a busy home and raising an active family. She was quite the seamstress and enjoyed using her green thumb to keep a beautiful yard filled with a variety of plants. She could always be found “fiddling with the dogs and cats” and could easily justify another four-legged mouth to feed. Barbara enjoyed bridge and was a member of the Angleton Study Club and The Angleton Garden Club. She was instrumental in the founding of the Brazoria County SPCA. She was an avid supporter and member of the American Field Service, and her family hosted exchange student Berit Holen of Norway in 1971-72. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce, and her parents. Barbara is survived by her children, Dana and husband, Ken Arnold of Lake Jackson, Sally and husband, Jim Galbraith of Galveston, Hank and wife Michelle, of Houston and Missy and husband, Barry Adams of Angleton. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Carol and Casey Passant of San Antonio, Joseph and Caroline Arnold of Danbury, Daniel and Kirsten Galbraith of Rosebud, Paul Galbraith of Kerrville, Ashlie and Jay Simon of Houston, John Henry Adams and Cassie Mantor of Comfort, Rebecca Adams of Angleton and Bruce Henry Morisse III of Houston and one great-grandchild, Annalise Arnold of Danbury. “Life is SO good!” A memorial service will be held in her honor at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, Texas on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of usual remembrances, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
