Allen Wesley Strohl, Jr. March 7, 1944 ~ July 30, 2016 On Saturday, July 30, 2016, Allen Wesley Strohl, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness. Allen was born on March 7, 1944 in Watertown, South Dakota. As the only child of Dora Belle Strohl and Allen Wesley Strohl, Sr., he spent his formative years in Southern California where he enjoyed surfing inVenice Beach and a part-time job painting and detailing Ford Thunderbirds. Allen attended Venice Beach and Canoga Park High School, where he held strong interest and curiosity regarding science and engineering. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Geology from California State University - Northridge and completed graduate coursework at Washington State University. After graduating, he began a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry, which led him to travel and live in various areas throughout the Middle East, Africa Europe, and South America. Allen lived a rich and cultured life and was fluent in French, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. He eventually settled in Katy, TX, a suburb of Houston, to raise his two children from his first marriage to Lia Strohl. Allen met Sylvia on Yahoo Personals when he answered an e-mail sent from a personable teacher of gifted children. They met for dinner at a local Tex-Mex Restaurant, La Casona, in Angleton,TX. There he stole a kiss after the meal and a romance blossomed. They were married on Oct. 23, 2004 and the family expanded to four adult children as Sylvia had two children from a previous marriage. Allen loved to browse the internet, talk to his Facebook buddies, go to the movies, and explore interesting places in Houston. He loved his "Sweetheart" children, grandchildren, and all his extended family. Allen is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia Strohl, his son Robert Allen Strohl, his daughter Patricia Strohl-Hernandez, son-in-law Tiziano Hernandez, son-in-law Troy Whittington, step-daughter Summer Whittington, ex-daughter-in-law Eloisa Strohl, and granddaughters Nicole and Bianca Strohl. A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 6, 2016 at 1:00pm at Palms Funeral Home located at 2300 East Mulberry Angleton, Texas 77515 (979) 849-4343.
