Joyce I. Akins

Joyce Imogene Fowler Akins, 91, of Loudon, presented herself unto the Lord this 25th day of August, 2016. She has joined those that have gone before her. The Holy Scripture in 2nd Corinthians 5:6 says “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. She was preceded in death by her parents Vanburen Dalliard Fowler and Early Mae Bright; sisters, Blanche Fowler, Ruby Fowler Akins and Bernice Fowler Davis; brothers, Cecil and Herbert Fowler; husband, Calvin C. Akins; and daughter, Sharron Colleen Scrimpsher. Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Linda Coleman, of Loudon; sons, Kenneth Akins, of Knoxville, David and Diane Akins, of Paint Rock, Scotty and Brenda Akins, of Philadelphia, and Gerald Akins, of Loudon; grandchildren, Robert and Dennis Coleman, Lisa Green, Chris and Bryan Akins, Crystal Williams, Melanie Dreher, Brandi Kirkland, Nikki Hunt and Lindsey Ford; twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; brother-in-law, Barney Akins and sister-in-law, Ruth Kirkland; along with a multitude of family and friends. Special thanks to Sue Law and Amanda Flatford of SCHAS, Glynnis Moore and the CAN’s of Covenant Health Care, and Melanie Brown for their devoted help, care and support. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
