Laurel Cottle Phillips Obituary

Laurel Cottle Phillips, age 52 of Franklin, TN passed away July 12, 2016. Born in Seattle, Washington and then raised in Malta, Idaho. Laurel enjoyed many things with her family and friends such as snow skiing, snowmobiling, sitting by the pool or next to the beach and riding horses. We take great comfort in the fact that Laurel found herself at the feet of Jesus before passing. She carried Him with her wherever she went and had a great desire to deeper know His Word. She had a longing for Him that was a pure joy to observe. Laurel was a wonderful friend who gave out kindness and compassion freely as she went throughout her day. She was a loving soul who noticed people’s needs. Laurel had a gift of a pleasant demeanor and a love of the elderly and less fortunate. Even though her body was weak and filled with cancer, she made sure that she took care of the folks who could not do it on their own without them knowing of her own frail condition. She often bought them groceries and supplied their various other needs they may have had. She was always a humble heart who never asked for a pat on the back for her kindness. She always took care of problems as if they where her own. Laurel delighted in her children. She involved herself in their lives and was an absolute fun loving, hands on mother. She was an excellent cook, cheerleader, chauffeur and encourager in their lives. We loved Laurel. She will be very missed every day. Laurel is preceded in death by her son, Trey Phillips and father in-law, S.M. Jack Phillips, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Phillips of Franklin, TN; daughter, Candice (Poria) Rafiei of Houston, TX; sons, Shawn Phillips, Jack Phillips & Jose (Tony 1”) Soriano all of Franklin, TN; parents, Albert J. and Julene Cottle of Malta, Idaho; brothers, Randy J. (Alaine) Cottle of Orem, Utah & Robert F. (Sheryl) Cottle of Malta, Idaho; sister, LaNae Glenn of Spring Hill, TN; grandchildren, Layla, Kayvan & Khloe. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM Monday, July 18, 2016 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Ken Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family & Friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4-7PM Sunday and one hour prior to the service at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 615-794-2289. www.williamsonmemorial.com
