Jane Allen Skillen

Mrs. Jane Allen Skillen, age 79 of Franklin, TN passed away October 15, 2016. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, she earned her BS degree in Nursing in 1959 from the University of Arkansas Medical Center. Her lifetime vocation was nursing and caring for others through her work as a general duty nurse, school nurse, nursing instructor, and disaster nurse with the American Red Cross. She also served as parish nurse at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church. Survived by: husband, James W. “Jim” Skillen of Franklin, TN; daughters, Joy (Dan) Crunk of Franklin, TN and Jan (Lee) Workman of Greenville, NC; sons, Jeffrey (Sara) Skillen of Franklin, TN and Joseph (Anna-Karin) Skillen of Baton Rouge, LA; sisters, Joan (William) Sanders of Elkin, NC and Judy (Bob) Bedford of Cynthiana, KY; grandchildren, Adam (Claire) Crunk, Will Crunk, Jenna Crunk, Rachel (Adam) Brinkley, Jason (Andi) Workman, Johan Skillen, Cameron Skillen, Max Skillen and Wyatt Skillen; great grandchildren, Bella Givens, Autumn Crunk and Carolena Jane Crunk. A worship service of remembrance will be conducted at 11:00 AM, October 22, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, Rev. Chris Joiner officiating. Gathering with the family will follow the service. Inurnment will be on November 13th, 2016 at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, TN following the 11:00 am worship service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Holston Presbytery Camp and Retreat Center (Holstoncenter.org) or Heifer International (Heifer.org).
