Larry Dixon

Blacksburg -- Larry Gene Dixon, 72, of 121 Bear Den Road, passed away Friday, September 9th, 2016, at Physical Rehab and Wellness Center in Spartanburg, SC. Born in Bessemer City, NC, he was the husband of Wanda Deaton Dixon and the son of the late Joe Dean Dixon and Lyda Westmoreland Dixon. Mr. Dixon retired from Duke Energy and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and served for 25 years with the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his wife, Mr. Dixon is survived by two sons, Kevin Dixon and wife, Missy, and Kristin Dixon, both of Blacksburg; one daughter, Kelly Dixon Byars and husband, Mark, of Blacksburg; one step-daughter, Kim Patterson of Blacksburg; one brother, Roger Dixon and wife, Pat, of Blacksburg; one sister, Pat Dixon Hicks and husband, Eddie, of Wilkesboro, NC; 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Dixon. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, 212 E. Floyd Baker Boulevard, Gaffney, SC 29340.
