William J. Henderson, Sr., 81 passed away on October 18, 2016 after a brief illness in his home surrounded by his loving wife of 59 years Marjorie (LaPere) Henderson and his family. Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Evelyn Henderson. Bill, a lifelong resident of Westerly, served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a Supervisor at Electric Boat for 30 years. Bill was an avid golfer all of his life and enjoyed the company of his lifelong friends weekly. He was a longtime member of The Winnapaug Country Club and Calabrese Club. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his children, Mary Jo Driscoll and James of Ashaway, Steven K. Henderson of Natick, MA., Julie Gross and Chris of Austin, TX., Jill Allain and Ryan of Fairfax, VA., as well as his daughter-in-law Maryellen Henderson of Westerly. He leaves his brothers Robert and John (Jack) Henderson, both of Westerly. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Morgan and Jimmy Driscoll, Jake Longolucco, Ryan and Thomas Allain, Chloe and Jack Gross and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son William J. Henderson Jr. and his brother Thomas A. Henderson. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7pm on Friday at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St. Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Service in the funeral home on Saturday at 10am. Internment will take place at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.
