Mary L. (Palmer) Algiere, 96, of Langworthy Road, Westerly, passed away at Westerly Nursing Home on Monday, October 10, 2016. She was the wife of the late Wallace S. Vanderford and the late Louis J. Algiere. Born in Hopkinton, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Jennie Palmer. Mary worked as a presser for Elite Cleaners for over 35 years until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her son Wallace Vanderford of Quakertown, PA; a brother Robert P. Palmer of Hopkinton; and a sister Barbara Stafford of Foster, RI. She also leaves three granddaughters in the Bethlehem, PA area: Gretchen Vanderford, Kendra Hall and Kristin Corcoran. Visiting hours will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Thursday from 10-11am, immediately followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11am. Burial will be at First Hopkinton Cemetery, Hopkinton.
