Louis Cozzolino Obituary

Louis F. Cozzolino, 91, beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the Westerly Health Center on Saturday, September 17. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Jeannette (Bushnell) Cozzolino. Born in Westerly, RI, he was the son of the late Jenny and Frank Cozzolino. Lou is survived by his sister Geraldine (and her husband, Edward) Miguel of Westerly. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Evans. Lou was one of the few remaining members of the "Greatest Generation". After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 75th Infantry Division and the 290th Infantry Regiment throughout Europe during World War II and bravely fought in the "Battle of the Bulge". After being honorably discharged from the service, he returned to Westerly, began his career as an electrician with Pucci Electric, and went on to form his own electrical business, City Electric, Co. with his longtime friend, the late Vincent Gaccione. City Electric went on to serve the Westerly community for over 30 years until Lou retired. Lou was active in many community organizations over the years, including the Calabrese Club, the St. Pius Men's Club, the VFW, Elk's Club, Knights of Columbus, the YMCA, the Democratic Town Committee, and the Westerly Yacht Club. Lou was always interested in the happenings of his hometown and was often spotted driving around town and enjoying the company of his buddies at the VFW or the Dunn's Corners McDonalds where they would solve the world's problems over coffee. He most enjoyed his summers at the Seaside Beach Club spending time with family and friends, and especially going for a swim, sharing a "cold one" with his "cousin" Jake Crowley, and passionately rooting for his beloved Red Sox. In addition to his wife, Lou is survived by his son, Michael Cozzolino, esq. and his wife Tiffany, son Thomas Cozzolino and his wife Marianne, son Gary Cozzolino and his wife Linda, daughter Susan Schickedanz and her husband Steven, and daughter Kristin Cozzolino and her husband Marc Archambault. Lou was also the loving grandfather to Nick, Beth, Steve, Ben, Charlie, Henry, Matt, and Grace Cozzolino, Neil and Lilly Schickedanz, Abe and Allie Archambault, and step grandfather to Anna, Sofia, and Marco Cozzolino. Visiting hours are omitted. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius Church, 45 Elm St., on September 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Pius School or the Activities Fund at the Westerly Health Center, in Lou's name.
