Gloria Najim

Gloria M. Najim entered into Eternal Life on September 10, 2016 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 75. Gloria was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend. She will be deeply and sadly missed by her loving husband of almost 54 years, Michael Najim of Westerly. She will also be deeply and sadly missed by her four children, Debbie Beaulieu (Mark), MaryAnn Adamopoulos (Costa) of Westerly, Maureen Haberek of Pawcatuck, CT and Fr. Michael Najim of Westerly; and her four loving grandchildren whom she adored, Kevin and Stephanie Beaulieu and Nicole and Olivia Haberek, all of whom appropriately dubbed her “The Queen”. She will also be greatly missed by her brothers John Curzio and his wife Linda of East Greenwich, RI, Jim Curzio and his partner Daniel Garrett of Salem, OR and her sister Connie Desillier of Ledyard, CT. She also leaves behind her sisters in law Sally Burdick of Virginia, Jeanette Culligan of California and her brothers in law Edmond Najim of Waterford, CT and Eugene Najim (Marita) of Westerly. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Gloria was the daughter of the late John and Mary Curzio. Gloria was a 1958 graduate of Westerly High School. She worked at the Fisherman Magazine for over 20 years then at the Westerly Town Hall for 17 years. She was a treasurer of Troop 819 Girl Scouts. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her Friday nights out with her sister, cousin and friends. She also enjoyed going on cruises with her family and friends. Gloria will fondly be remembered for all the parties and picnics that were held several times a year especially the traditional New Year’s Day party which was held for over 50 years at her home. Gloria could throw a party together in no time at all. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ, her love of the Blessed Virgin Mary, her unshakable joy and optimism and her radiant smile she left her family at her last moment. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday at 11am at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will immediately follow at St Sebastian’s Cemetery, Westerly.
