Born on February 24, 1932, in Ari, in the Province of Chieti, in Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Giulia (DiSabato) D’Alessandro.

He was a crane operator since 1951 and worked for Birdsboro Corporation in Birdsboro and retired from The Rose Corporation in Reading on February 18, 2005, at the age of 72.

Val came to the U.S. in 1951 to make a better life for himself and the rest of his family that were to follow him. He was a peacemaker and most passionate about his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend. Val was most happy when his family was all together for Sunday dinners, vacations, or special occasions and loved to share stories about his amazing life and experiences.

Gardening was Val’s passion in life and he was proud to share his knowledge with all of his family and friends. His garden was meticulous and always contained a variety of fruits, vegetables, beans and even figs. He took great pride in providing for his family, and being outdoors.

He leaves a legacy in his wife, three children, and seven grandchildren. He taught them many things, like gardening, wine making, Italian cards, bocci ball and the importance of family. He will truly be missed but forever in their hearts.
