Joseph J. Reider Obituary

June 5, 1929 – April 23, 2013

Joseph J. Reider, 83, of Muhlenberg Township, died April 23, 2013, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Evelyn C. “Dolly” (Brown) Reider.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late James and Madeline (Jordon) Reider.
Joseph was president/co-owner of: Snack World Inc.; Square Deal Fruit; Snack World Outlet Valley Distributing and Krick’s Corner for over 25 years. After retiring in 2001 he worked for 11 years for Kline’s Automotive as a delivery driver. He started his career working for 25 years at Billy's Pretzels, Reading.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Joseph was a member of West Wyomissing Chapel.
He was on the Board of Directors for both the Hope Rescue Mission and Greenview Bible Camp for 20 years, serving as president for 15 years for both organizations.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, Susan M., widow of Barry Hiester, Casper, WY and Rev. Dr. Brett J., husband of Terri Reider, Womelsdorf; seven siblings: Eugene, Boyertown, Madeline Goodman, Reading, Ruth Bentz, Denver, Henry, Shillington, Dorothy Reichert, Reading, Josephine Zimmerman, Laureldale and Ida Mae Zellner, Birdsboro.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, B.J., Melissa and Cash Reider, Lori Lamos and Joel Hiester and five great-grandchildren, Mason Hiester, Mateo and Mikal Lamos; and Bailey and Faith Hiester.
He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Erin Reider.
Memorial Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in West Wyomissing Chapel, 2055 Reading Blvd., West Lawn, PA 19609. Burial will be private.
