Mary J. Granite, 92, of Clarence, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Born on August 21, 1923, in Clarence, she was the daughter of the late Matthew J. and Anna M. Smolko Murgas. She had a strong faith in God and said the rosary every day. Mary was a member of the Rosary Society, Jednota Lodge, and Clarence American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing all kinds of card games, playing bingo, puzzles and baking. She loved growing flowers and working in her flower gardens. She looked forward to Sundays when her family would come for dinner and she would make all their favorite foods, especially homemade soup. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mary was very proud that she was able to see five generations in her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She will be truly missed by all that knew her. Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers; Andrew, Joseph, and Michael, four sisters; Anna Soltis, Agnes Solomon, Margaret Danko, and Pauline Murgas, and one grandson, Shane Granite.
