Zelda Peters Obituary

Zelda Maxine Peters, 90, a resident at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, and formerly of Shippensburg, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the home. Born Thursday, August 5, 1926 in Degraff, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late George Byron and Lula Irene Brooks McIntire. She was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God, after High School, she attended Huntington College in Huntington, Indiana, Shippensburg College, and HACC in Harrisburg. She was a member of the Shippensburg Historical Society where she was Editor of their News Letter since the fall of 1987. Zelda was the Author of “Memory, God’s Golden Window”, a book of poetry taken from her life’s experiences. She was loved by many people and will be sadly missed. Surviving are four children, four grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Shippensburg First Church of God with the Rev. William Myers and Pastor Arthur Page officiating. Burial will be private in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Care & Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
