Gladys Jane Hopkins, 85, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. She was born on August 5, 1930, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late David and Luetta Miller Strayer. She married James E. Hopkins on June 29, 1957 and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1984. Gladys Jane worked at the Beistle Co. and the former Hoffman Mills, Shippensburg, prior to marriage, and thereafter was a homemaker throughout her life. She loved taking care of her home, cooking for her family, and being outside working around the yard in her flowers beds. Gladys Jane was a devoted mother, who was never one to complain, and just enjoyed living life. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. Hartzok of Chambersburg; her son, John David Morris of Chambersburg; two brothers, Ray Strayer of Shippensburg and Donald James (Mary) Strayer of Wrightsville; one special sister, Faye M. Ordway of Shippensburg; her little dog, Benji; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys Jane was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Mays. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. James O. Bolich will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
