Albert P. Ludwig, Sr., a resident of Sellersville for over 50 years, formerly of Richboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane A. (Auch) Ludwig for 64 years until her death in 2009. He was 89.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Charlotte (Payton) Ludwig.
Mr. Ludwig was a proud U.S. Army Air Force veteran, having served in the European Theatre during World War II.
Al had been employed for 41 years as a tool and die maker with Standard Pressed Steel, Jenkintown, where he had developed a patent for a machine design.
He was a member of the Sellersville Fire Department Fire Police for many years, serving as a lieutenant. He had volunteered with the weekly bingo kitchen and games and at the annual firemen’s carnival as well.
Al had also been a member of the North-South Skirmish Association, a Civil War weapons re-enactment group, for fifty years.
Albert was a long-time parishioner of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.
Mr. Ludwig enjoyed maintaining his property and working in his workshop. A true “Mr. Fix-it,” he could virtually repair anything.
He is survived by his four children: Joseph A. Ludwig, of Merritt Island, FL; Jane C. Ludwig-Samer and her husband, Robert G. Samer; Albert P. Ludwig, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, all of Meshoppen, PA; Roma A. Mason, of Suffolk, VA; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte, of Colorado.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 31, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., Thursday morning at the church. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
