Ruth C. Houston

<p>Ruth C. Houston, 103, of New Castle, passed away the morning of June 16, 2016 at Jameson Care Center. Born on December 21, 1912 in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Katherine R. Rodgers Ingham. In 1933, she married her beloved husband, Albert R. Houston, and the two of them spent 26 years together until he preceded her in death in July of 1959. </p><p><br></p><p>Ruth retired from Wilson Excavating in New Wilmington as a secretary at age 85 where she had worked for 38 years. A devoted member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church for 75 years, she was a member of its Irvine Bible Class. Ruth was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as a Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Assembly #1 for many years, and the Wimodausis Club. In her earlier days, she enjoyed travelling with Prime Timers at the church. Ruth also loved to bake. </p><p><br></p><p>Ruth is survived by her children, Dawna Aiken of Warren, OH and Robert A. Houston and wife Paula of Port St. Lucy, FL; sister, Sarah Dennis of Mesa, AZ; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Ingham and James Ingham, and sisters, Marian Ingham, Grace Hamilton, and Jane Lamson. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be conducted Monday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Chris Weichman of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. </p><p><br></p><p>Interment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.</p>
