Ernest Ammerman

Ernest G. Ammerman, 89 of rural Julian passed away at his residence on Friday, October 14, 2016. Ernest was born on March 20, 1927 in Union Twp., Centre Co. the son of the late Ray and Lillie Irvin Ammerman. He married the former Janet M. Gill (Ammerman) who survives at home. Also surviving is one daughter, Marcia L. (Neil) Roberts of Minnesota, one son, James G. (Paula) Ammerman of Texas, four sisters, Elmeda Carver of Bellefonte, Maxine Kelly of Philadelphia, Dorothy Bush of Julian, Katherine Trainor of Philadelphia, one brother, Lawrence Ammerman of Milesburg, four grandchildren, Matthew Roberts, Katherine Roberts, Rebecca Blackler, Eric Ammerman, four great-grandchildren Eve, Joseph, Riley and Oliver. Ernest is also survived by two step-sons, John S. Craig of rural Julian and Lewis I. Craig also of rural Julian, two step-daughters, Jeanne Straley of Bellefonte and Tina Storms of Fleming, nine step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren. Ernest was a veteran having served in the US Army during World War II from 1945-1947 and during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1951. He was of the Protestant Faith. Ernest retired as a Kiln operator from National Gypsum. He was a Union Twp. Supervisor for nineteen years, and a member of the Oak Ridge Cemetery Association. Along with his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley M. Way Ammerman who died in 1964 and three brothers, Clair Ammerman, Foster Ammerman and Donald Ammerman. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at The Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Dale Carver officiating; with Blessings offered by Pastor Benjamin Lee. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Union Twp., Centre Co. where military honors will be accorded. A luncheon will be served at the Unionville Community Center following the graveside services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring Street, Milesburg, Pa.
