Glenys Ruth Waters Obituary

Age 87, went to be with the Lord on her birthday, August 24, 2016. Glenys was born at home in Wyano, PA (Westmoreland County), one of nine children to William and Helen Elizabeth Cunningham (Gardner). She was preceded in death by her siblings: Eleanor (Robert) Ferguson, Dorothy (Richard) Kessler, Shirley (Robert) Chandler, Nancy (Richard) Morrison, and Gayle (Richard) Hamer. She is survived by her siblings: Mary (William) Hauxhurst, David (Betsy) Cunningham, and Lois (James) Starenchak. She married John (Jack) Waters on November 22, 1949, and they were married for 40 years until John’s passing in October 1990. Jack and Glenys raised their six children for many years at their home on Maple Avenue in Castle Shannon. Glenys was the Mother of David (Theresa), James, Daniel (deceased), Thomas (Freida), Melissa (Kenneth) Westerman, and Jonathan (Phyllis). Grandmother of 11; Great-Grandmother of 11; and Great-Great-Grandmother of 3. Glenys was a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Castle Shannon, Faith Community Church, and Calvary Full Gospel Church in Bridgeville. During her life, she worked many jobs, beginning as a waitress at Eat-N-Park on Saw Mill Run Blvd; Kaufmanns Tic-Toc Restaurant in Mount Lebanon; a faithful teacher and secretary at Faith Community Christian School in Bethel Park, and a home care giver for Allegheny County Senior Companions until just last year. She volunteered for many worthy organizations, but there was none as important to her as People Concerned for the Unborn Child (PCUC). Glenys believed and taught the beauty and sanctity of human life and worked tirelessly to protect the unborn. Glenys had a deep, rich faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leading a legacy of many believers into the Kingdom and encouraging many others to continue their life in Christ. Her life inspired all she met, and she left many, including her family, who call her blessed. Glenys's life was a true testimony of the faithfulness and goodness of God. Heaven is richer, and earth has lost a beautiful treasure. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUER- FRYER, 412-221-3800.
