Harry Wesley Hall, Jr., 84, of Lewisberry, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016, in the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Linglestown, with family by his side.
Born in Derry Township on June 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Harry W., Sr., and Miriam H. Proud Hall.
Harry retired as a Biology Teacher from Red Land High School, and had previously taught at Cliffside Park High School, NJ, Lebanon High School, Hershey High School, and Carlisle High School. At one time he was one of only two teachers in the state of Pennsylvania to teach Radiation Biology. Harry was a farrier and horse trainer. He also served as the former Health Officer for the Borough of New Cumberland; and with the Bureau of Land Management North Eastern States District Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Center.
Harry was a 1950 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School, 1954 graduate from Lebanon Valley College, Annville, and received his Master’s Degree in 1958 from Columbia University, New York, NY. He was a member of Lewisberry United Methodist Church, and a former member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. Harry was a member of the New Cumberland Lions Club for almost 40 years and had served as a Past President. He was also a member of the Menges Mills Historic Horse, Steam and Gas Association where he thoroughly enjoyed helping with their “Olde Tyme Days” show every year.
He is survived by his children, Patricia E. Krow wife of Roy C., Sr., and Stephen R. Hall husband of Charleen R., both of Hummelstown, Brian A. Hall of Clifton, NJ, and Barbara A. Hale wife of Allen L. of Temple, GA; five grandchildren, Arianne C. Miner of Hellam, Sarah E. Hall and Rebecca L. Hall both of Hummelstown, and Austin C. Hale and Nathan W. Hale both of Temple, GA; five great grandchildren, Ava, Madison, Helena, Brennen, and Alexander; his sister, Gloria M. Meder of State College; a nephew; two nieces; and several great and great great nieces and nephews; his beloved Beulah N. Nesbit, her son, Bruce A. Nesbit of Lewisberry, her two daughters, Connie S. Rohrbach of Wellsville, and Bonnie L. Sterner wife of Daniel of Lewisberry, her nine grandchildren, and her five great grandchildren;.
Funeral service will be held Monday, October 17, 2016, at 11 AM in the Lewisberry United Methodist Church, 309 Market Street, Lewisberry, with The Rev. Jane A. Harrison, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends will be received for the viewings on Sunday, October 16, 2016, from 6 to 7 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, and again on Monday in the church from 10 AM until time of the service.
