Gazella Stefana Whisler, 97, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away September 10. Mrs. Whisler is pre-deceased by her husband, the late Rev. Robert G. Whisler, and her sister, the late Margaret Sorensen. She is survived by her sons Jack of Forest, Virginia, and David (Mary) of Texas, and her daughters Elizabeth Christon (Christopher) of South Carolina and Deborah Rullman (Charles) of Virginia. She is also survived by grandchildren Nicholas Whisler and Natasha Herald (James) of Virginia, Mark Christon of Florida, Meredith Whisler Durbin (Jason) of Washington, and Leah Rullman of New York City; and by great grandchildren Julia and Owen Herald of Virginia. Mrs. Whisler was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Osvatics of New Cumberland, PA. She graduated from John Harris High School in 1937 and studied at the Baltimore Deaconess School. She graduated from Gettysburg College in 1945. Mrs. Whisler married the late Rev. Robert G. Whisler in 1945 and lived in Johnstown, PA, where her husband was pastor of Grace Lutheran Church for 40 years. They retired to the Central PA area, where she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hummelstown, and later Grace Lutheran Church in Camp Hill. The service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 16, at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown with viewing at 10:00 AM. Following the service, internment will be at Churchville Cemetery in Oberlin. Arrangements are being handled by the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home in Hummelstown.
