Frederick M. "Fred" MacGee of Harrisburg died peacefully on May 27, 2016, at the age of 89. Fred is survived by his wife, Eddie S. of Harrisburg; son, Michael MacGee of South Carolina; granddaughter, Ashley Donsbach and husband Chris, and two great grandsons, Jackson and Derek of Mechanicsburg; Two sisters-in-law, Dilys Schuettler and Mary MacGee; Brother-in-law Bob Schuettler; nieces, Carol McMahan and husband Tom, Barbara Chase and husband David, Alison Cooke and husband Malcolm, and Elizabeth MacGee; Five nephews, John MacGee and wife Barbara, Robert Landis and wife Denise, James Landis, Russell MacGee and David Schuettler and wife Brandi. He is preceded in death by son Kip MacGee and three siblings, Ruth Landis, Wendell MacGee and Edwin MacGee. Fred was born on August 17, 1926, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, to James and Virgie Henry MacGee. He graduated from Hershey High School in 1944 and attended the University of California at Berkeley. He served in World War II in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps as a corpsman. Fred was the Chairman of the Board of Penn Institute, Inc., Harrisburg. He was a licensed Dale Carnegie Sponsor in twenty-seven counties in Pennsylvania where he met the love of his life, Eddie. Fred married Eddie in 1969 and together they traveled around the state and other countries promoting and teaching classes in human relations, communications, sales techniques, and management skills. Through their hard work and dedication, they received many awards. During this time, Fred was honored with the Dale Carnegie’s President’s Cup, the highest award given. Fred was a generous, witty, dedicated, caring individual who loved his family, friends and church. He inspired and motivated people to action. He spent decades as an active and dedicated member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. A visitation is scheduled at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1100 Colonial Road, Harrisburg, on Saturday, June 11, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM followed by a service and luncheon. The Rev. Patrick P. Wirick, Jr. will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fred’s life.
