Obituary of Dorothy Mae Jarrett Dorothy Mae Jarrett, 85, of Chambers Hill, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in South Williamsport on September 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Dolly Bennett Best. Dorothy was a telephone operator for the former AMP, Inc. and Bell Telephone, but spent most of her life as a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a graduate of South Williamsport High School. Dorothy was a devout member of the Chambers Hill United Methodist Church, head of the prayer chain and an Easter egger. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over 30 years. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles and tending to her flower garden. She will be deeply missed by her family. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Roy C. Jarrett, whom she married on April 12, 1952; her loving sons, Steven A. Jarrett husband of Terry E., Keith D. Jarrett husband of Michele both of Hummelstown, and Mark T. Jarrett of Palmyra; two sisters, Lucille Brown and Carlyne Bausinger both of Williamsport; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jim Best and Dave Best. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Chambers Hill United Methodist Church, 6300 Chambers Hill Road, Harrisburg, with The Rev. Nicholas E. Keeney, officiating. Inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A visitation will be held in the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of the services. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be sent to Chambers Hill United Methodist Church, 6300 Chambers Hill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111, or to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
