Donald A. VanMeter, Jr. Glen Rock Donald A. “Pappy” VanMeter, Jr., 63, of Glen Rock, died Saturday August 27, 2016 at York Hospital following a brief illness. A viewing and time to share remembrances will held from 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Following cremation, a memorial graveside service will be held 10:30 AM Friday Sept. 2, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hanover Street, Glen Rock with Pastor Jeff Feeser officiating. Donnie was born on December 24, 1952 in York and was a son of the late Donald A. “Van” Sr. and Kathryn A. (Roser) VanMeter. He graduated in 1970 from Susquehannock High School and had been employed as a truck driver with GTS/Praxair in Harrisburg. He was a member and had been active with the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Company and was a past Assistant Chief and served in several other officer positions for many years and was also a former Driver for the Loganville Fire Company. He was member of the Glen Rock Athletic Association and currently took care of the ball field for the Glen Rock Baseball Teams. He also was a member of the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403 and the York County Fire Fighters Association. Pappy leaves a sister, Jane L. Rinehart of Apapka, Fla. and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Dorothy J. Spicer is deceased. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Rock Athletic Association c/o of Austin L. Grove American Legion Post 403, 4035 Manchester St, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
