John Rush Baldwin, III

John Rush Baldwin, III, 84, died August 5, 2016 at Hart Heritage Estates in Street, MD. Born October 6, 1931 in Churchville, MD, he was a son of the late John Rush Baldwin, Jr. and Mary Todd Baldwin. Graduating from Bel Air High School and the University of Maryland, John served in the U.S. Air Force, assigned to the Texas-Mexican border for two years. He began raising Aberdeen Angus cattle near Delta, PA and married Barbara Ann Williams, daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Williams of Ridgewood, N.J. John was elected as Supervisor for Peach Bottom Township, served three terms and was appointed secretary-treasurer, serving his community for thirty years. He was a past master of Friendship Masonic Lodge no. 663 F&AM. He enjoyed deer hunting, vegetable gardening and was a Yankee baseball fan. John is survived by: 2 children- Catherine Baldwin Carter Stephen Charles Baldwin 8 grandchildren- John Dale Baldwin, Adam Baldwin, Linda Carter, Timothy Carter, Shane Baldwin, Ryan Baldwin, Stephen Baldwin, Jr. and Victoria Baldwin 7 great grandchildren 1 sister- Elizabeth Crowl He is preceded by his son, John Rush Baldwin, IV. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Slateville Presbyterian Church, 308 Slateville Rd., Delta, PA 17314. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Reverend Kenneth Osborne. Interment will immediately follow in the Rock Spring Episcopal Cemetery, Forest Hill, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Slateville Presbyterian Church at the above address. Obituary written by his family.
