Norman Mowers

Norman C. Mowers, 92 of Chambersburg, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, October 4, 2016 at his home. Born September 13, 1924 in Newville, PA, he was a son of the late James E. and Alice E. (Shatzer) Mowers. Mr. Mowers served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1984 after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God, the Bible Basic Sunday School Class, Senior Life, and for ten years sang in the Christian Fun Bunch Choir. He was also a member of AARP Chapter #2287. Mr. Mowers enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mable E. Mowers whom he married January 16, 1951; three children, daughter Judy Caution, son Lee Mowers (husband of Doreen), and daughter Susan Caldwell (wife of Reed) in addition to six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold. He was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, and one son-in-law. The family would like to thank Hospice for the special care of our loved one. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Chambersburg First Church of God in Chambersburg. Rev. Lawrence Metzler and Pastor Don Drury will officiate. There will be no viewing however the family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Monday at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chambersburg First Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
