Jack Parr Obituary

Jack D. Parr, 60, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday morning, July 11, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 27, 1955 in Tennessee, he was a son of Josephine Tarr Parr and the late Jack D. Parr. Jack had been employed as an electrician with Ellsworth Electric in Chambersburg for the past eight years. Previously he was employed with D & L Electric in Fredericksburg, VA. Jack was a man of quiet strength with a great love of the mountains and enjoyed getting away with his family to their cabin in the Pennsylvania mountains. He loved the beach and ocean and especially liked family trips to Ocean City and Myrtle Beach. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins, watching every game of the Stanley Cup finals and was ecstatic with his Pens’ win. He attended Zion Covenant Church in Chambersburg. He is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa Amsley, who has been his life partner since October of 1997; their two daughters, Kimeka Jewell and husband Steve of Fredericksburg, VA and Asohnn Anglin of Shippensburg, PA; and his very special granddaughter, Breezi Anglin, his pride and joy, who he and his wife have raised since birth and he lovingly referred to as his “Squirt”. She and her Pop have been best buddies for nearly thirteen years. Also surviving are grandchildren Willow Amsley, Avery and Mason Jewell, and Winter Rose, all of whom brought him great pleasure and enriched his life; sisters and brothers-in-laws Brenda and Herm Mellott of Hagerstown, MD and Wanita and Randy Shoemaker of Chambersburg; mother-in-law Betty Amsley of Chambersburg; siblings Brian Parr of Blacksburg, VA, Paul Parr of Jupiter, FL, and Janice Grago of Hiller, PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Zion Covenant Church, 1102 Locust Street, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Willie Dingeldein will officiate. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and from 1:30–2:00 PM Saturday at the church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. John Robinson and his staff at Summit Cancer and Hematology Services as well as their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and caring RNs and CNAs of PCU on the second floor of the Chambersburg Hospital. Memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to Zion Covenant Church, at the address listed above. Jack’s battle with cancer was brief but fierce. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by those he left but they have great joy in knowing that his suffering is over and that they will see him in Heaven.
