Elmer Drawbaugh

Elmer L. “Ick” Drawbaugh, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, July 17, 2016 at ManorCare Health Services. Born April 20, 1929 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Elmer L. and Mary Elliott Drawbaugh. He was a 1947 graduate of the Chambersburg High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired in 1986 from Letterkenny Army Depot. His wife, Isabel Shaffer Drawbaugh, whom he married March 22, 1953, preceded him in death on January 29, 2016. He was a member of the Furnace Spring Hunting Club, the Franklin Fire Company, George Washington Lodge #143 F &AM, Harrisburg Consistory; Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest #145, the AARP, NARFE Chapter 1063, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion. He was a life member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW. He is survived by two grandsons, Christopher and Ryan Howell; and his great granddaughter, Addalynn Howell, all of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Howell, in October of 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Don Drury officiating. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, 755 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
