Dennis Ray Miller

Dennis Ray “Denny” Miller, 69, of Chambersburg and formerly of Shippensburg, passed away after an over four year battle with cancer on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016, at his home. Born July 9, 1947, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Deloris Miller Smith, and the late Robert Monn. Denny was a 1966 graduate of CASHS. A U.S. Army veteran, he served honorably during the Vietnam War from 1967 – 1976. Following his military service, Denny was employed in the Facilities and Maintenance department of Shippensburg University until his retirement in 1990. He was then employed as a Landscape Foreman with Cumberland Valley Tree Service – Landscaping. He was a member of Freedom In Christ Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 46 and Moose Lodge 842, both in Chambersburg. Denny loved spending time with his family, taking care of his gardens and yard, and vacationing in the Florida Keyes and Rehoboth Beach, DE. He also loved watching NASCAR, basketball and football, boating and RVing and listening to oldies music. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Linda Miller, whom he married on February 26, 2000; his son, Jamie Ray Miller and wife Loren of Allendale, NJ; step-children, Gary Lee Whitfield and wife Traci of Chambersburg and Lisa Marie Pogue and husband George of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren, Alexis Miller, Lia Miller, Boaz Pogue, Hannah Pogue, Gary Lee Whitfield, Jr., Skyler Whitfield, Aysha Whitfield and Shauna Reynolds and husband Julian; and one great-granddaughter, Ciani. A memorial service will be held to honor Denny at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2016 in Freedom In Christ Church, 4042 Sycamore Grove Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor John Pogue will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
