Betty Czarnecki

Betty E. Czarnecki, 82, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Union Hospital. Born February 1, 1934, in Grand Rapids, MI, she was a daughter of the late Deal M. and Helen M. Witt Leach. Her beloved husband, Leonard W. Czarnecki, preceded her in death in 1987. Betty was a 1952 graduate of Coloma High School where she played on the girl’s basketball team. Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Bendix Corporation in St. Joseph, MI for 10 years. She became a homemaker for 16 years then went back to working as a bookkeeper at various businesses for 22 years until her retirement in 2000. Betty was a devoted Catholic and attended Mass regularly. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elkton, MD. Betty enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She also golfed as frequently as possible and liked to bowl. Betty is survived by her two sons, Phillip Czarnecki and wife Kristen of Elkton, MD and Paul Czarnecki of Rincon, GA; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Julianne Czarnecki. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her sister Annmarie Smith. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2016, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Very Reverend Fr. Luis R. Rodriguez V.F. will officiate. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church at the above address.
