James Bowker Obituary

James T. Bowker, age 89, of Donora, died peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016, at Hallsworth House in Monessen, PA. Born November 10, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA Jim was the son of Thomas and Agnes (Doppler) Bowker. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Keith in the Pacific. In 1949, he met the love of his life, Angela Garcia, and the two were married for 61 years until her death in 2011. Jim worked as a Production Control Manager at Combustion Engineering in Monongahela for 25 years. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora and formerly of the St. Charles Church, where he served as a lector. He was also a member of the Donora Elks. In addition to his parents and his wife Angela, he was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes, half sister Mary Mergen and half brothers, Charles and Joseph Heiser. He is survived by sonThomas and wife Sally of Pleasant Hills, PA, a daughter Christine and husband John Parker of Riverdale, MD, son David and wife Christine of Carroll Twp., son Paul of Pittsburgh, and step-son Jim Barbo and wife Riki of La Quinta, CA. Also surviving are grandchildren Jesse and Jamie Bowker, Susannah and Ellis Parker, Ryan (Lauren), Ross (Chelsey), and Sara Bowker, and Cody and Ty Barbo. Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where a private family visitation will be held on Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora with Rev. Fr. Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on Tuesday morning. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA Jim has lived at the Hallsworth House in Monessen for the past year and the family would like to thank them for all of the care provided. Also special thanks to Via Quest Hospice Care for their loving service.
