Robert Tate

Robert E. Tate, 74, of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his home. Born on October 12, 1941, in Boalsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Roy E. and Marie (Jordan) Tate Bloom. On August 27, 1966, he married Ellen J. (Burns) Tate who survives at home. He was a 1960 graduate of Bellefonte High School. Robert worked at Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven until he got a job at Corning Glass Works as a tank operator where he worked for 25 years until his retirement. He loved gardening and being outside. He enjoyed reading on topics such as ancient history, old cars, snakes and magic. Robert was also a big prankster and loved making people laugh. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Susan E. Packer and Robert E. Tate, Jr., grandchildren: Danielle N. Packer, Bryan E. Tate, great granddaughter: Gracelyn Traxler and two sisters: Juanita M. Tate of State College, Patricia A. Brown of Dauphin and numerous nieces and nephews Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy E. Tate Jr., and James A. Tate. A casual gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the home of his son at 710 Nittany Valley Drive, Bellefonte, PA 16823 from 11:00am until 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin Street #206, State College, PA, 16803. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., in Bellefonte.
