James J. Hockenberry, 79, of Bellefonte, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, at his home. Born on May 16, 1937, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Simon and Helen Tenalio Hockenberry. On June 6, 1981, in Centre Hall, he married Donna Ghiotto, who survives at home.
He attended the Bellefonte Area School System.
Jim worked as a painter for Jack Warner and then went to work for Penn State where he retired in 1997.
Along with his wife he is survived by one daughter, Linda Peters and her husband Steve of Lemont, three sons; Wayne Hockenberry (Nicol) of Pleasant Gap, Roy Hockenberry of Pleasant Gap, and Michael Patton and his wife Tammy of Port Matilda, three sisters; Catherine Fetters of Bellefonte, Patricia Yost of Mill Hall, and Debbie Tenalio of Bellefonte, three brothers; Donald Hockenberry of Ocala, FL, Marvin Hockenberry of Leadville, CO, and Terry Tenalio of Bellefonte, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Jim was a fanatic Pittsburgh Pirate and Steeler fan.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; Robert, Herbert, and Paul Hockenberry, and numerous half brothers and sisters
There will be a public viewing held Monday, July 11, 2016, from 6pm until 8pm, at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 North Spring Street, Bellefonte, PA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 12pm, at the funeral home with the Rev. Alex Dyakiw officiating.
Burial will follow at Meyer Cemetery in Benner Township.
