Bill Tibbens Obituary

Bill D. Tibbens, 83, of Pleasant Gap, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall. Born on September 10, 1932, in Pleasant Gap, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy Sweeney Tibbens. He married Martha J. Klinefelter Tibbens who preceded him in death. Bill was a 1950 graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School. He worked for the Penn State University as a carpenter, until he retired after 20 years of service. Bill was of the Protestant faith. He was a lifetime member of the Pleasant Gap Fire Company, a member of the Pleasant Gap Lions Club, Union Steward at the Penn State University, and also a member of the Antique Machinery Association. Bill collected hammers and had a collection of over 1200. He enjoyed camping, hunting, golfing, going on rides and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by one daughter; Myla Edwards and her husband David of Clarence, one son; Daniel L. Tibbens, Sr. and his wife Tonia of Zion, two sisters; Sally St. Clair of Bellefonte and Dorothy Ghaner of State College, two brothers; Carl Tibbens of Michigan and Fred Tibbens of Milheim, six grandchildren; Mia Wilson, Sandra Dawn Pressler, Raven Crader, David Edwards, Daniel Lee Tibbens, Jr., and Thomas J. Tibbens II, four great-grandchildren; Makaylinn Wilson, Dakota Wilson, Brennan Pressler, and Sully Tibbens, and also by extended family; Joe, Cindy and Tessa Capperella. Along with his parents and husband, he is preceded in death by two sons; Billie D. Tibbens, Jr. and Thomas J. Tibbens, and one daughter; Dorothy Pressler. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 10am until 12pm, the time of the service, at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. 206 North Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at the funeral home, at 12pm, with the Rev. Stephen Durr officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
