Russell White

Russell White passed away October 1, 2016 in Hood River, Oregon with family by his side at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. Russell was born May 11, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska and was 92 years of age at the time of his passing. Russell retired from the Columbia River Scaling Bureau and was able to enjoy his hobbies of square dancing with wife, Myrtle, serving as director of the Senior Center and of course spending many hours in his wood shop working. An accomplished and talented craftsman, Russell remodeled their home, building all of the interior cabinetry and a new kitchen. Later in life and with fine results Russell took up wood carving which he enjoyed right up to his passing. Russell is survived by his children, William R. White and Patricia White; grandchildren, Stacey E. Mott, Brooke P. Peyton, Ann Senetar and Kim Goetz; many great grandchildren; and four great grandchildren, Melanie, John, Natalie and Quentin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle in 2015. A Graveside Gathering is tentatively planned for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Mountain View Cemetery (1235 Tucker Road, Hood River, Oregon). “Many heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors of Providence Hood River’s Acute Care Unit.
