A Celebration of Life for Phillis S. May, age 91 years, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Friday, September 16, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Dr. Jarrett Banks and Reverend Don Johnson will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the graveside services, there will be a come and go reception at 11:45 am at Central Christian Church, 1111 W. Broadway. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the funeral home. Phillis was born September 16, 1924 in Kremlin, Oklahoma to Clarence J. and Mary J. (Kline) Stewart, and passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 in Enid. She attended Glenwood Elementary School, Emerson Junior High, and graduated in 1942 from Enid High School. Following high school she entered the United States Navy, serving her country during World War II. She attended Oklahoma A & M pursuing a degree in accounting, graduating in 1958 from what is now known as Oklahoma State University. She was employed by the Department of Defense for over 30 years before retiring. Phillis was active in several organizations, including Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) serving as treasurer of the local chapter, and volunteered delivering mobile meals. She was a long time member of Central Christian Church and was active in the Guild and Caregivers. She and her late husband Myron D. May were long time members of the Sooner Sunday School Class. Phillis was preceded in death by her husband, Myron D. May. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Richard S. Templeton and wife Susan, of Miami, Florida; Dr. Neal S. Templeton and wife Carla, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Helen Muller, of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Leigh Sandoval and husband Ernie, of Cave Creek, Arizona; Lynsey Templeton, of Scottsdale, Arizona; Kurt Templeton and wife Kyla, of Bentonville, Arkansas; Katie Mehl and husband Brad, Oklahoma City; six great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Deanne Blackwood and husband Don, of Plano, Texas; Cheryl Wilson and husband George, of Irving, Texas; two step-granddaughters, Stephanie Blackwood and Kara Tervooren; and three step great-grandsons. Memorials in Phillis’s name may be made to Central Christian Church or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
