A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Charles A. White, III, 86,of Mentor, will be held from 4-6:30 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.<br><br>Mr. White passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital.<br><br>Born July 19, 1930 in Willoughby, he was a lifelong Lake County resident.<br><br>He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, where he ran track and officiated football games. Charles enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels, skunks and any wild life. His interests included photography, carpentry, masonry, hunting, trapping, cars (especially his Monte Carlo); Pepsi, strawberry milkshakes, watching television, movies and shopping for the best bargain in town. He was a graduate of the former Willoughby Union High School Class of 1950 where he ran track. <br><br>Mr. White was employed at the former Ohio Rubber Company in Willoughby for more than 20 years and worked as a mason and carpenter, leasing agent and maintenance man. In his later years, he referred to himself as a professional driver for Honda of Mentor, which was his dream job. <br><br>Survivors are his children, Penny, Charles IV, Candy and Holly and step-children, Marsha, Rebecca, Donna and Gregory. He also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. <br><br>He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. White; parents, Charles II and Sadie (Pettigrew) White; brother, Donald J. White and step-son, Kenneth. <br><br>P.S. “I love you, I miss you, I will always be your Baby Dutch.”<br><br>In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to the McKinley Community Outreach Center, 1200 Lost Nation Road, Willoughby, OH 44094.<br>
