Donald Eugene Funk, Sr., 85, of Laramie Rd., Marietta, died at his residence on Sunday, May 16, 2010. He was born on March 28, 1925 in New Lexington, Ohio to George and Loretta Funk. Don is a 1943 graduate of New Lexington High School. He was in the United States Navy for three years, serving during WWII. Don owned and operated the Credit Bureau in Marietta since 1964 until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks in Marietta and a lifetime Buckeye fan. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Sharp Funk, whom he married on September 15, 1946; one son, Don Funk, Jr. of Columbus; one daughter, Jean Nicola of Columbus; one grandson, Robert A. Funk of Hamburg, Germany; one granddaughter, Brandi Horace (Carl) of Florida; one great granddaughter, Dannika Horace; one cousin, James Funk (Inez) of Marietta; and a dear friend, John Christy of McConnelsville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Abiding with Don’s wishes, he has been cremated and there will be no visitation or services.
