Walter J. Leibolt, 95 Walter J. Leibolt, 95, of Ashland passed away Monday afternoon, September 12, 2016 at Crystal Care Center in Ashland. Mr. Leibolt was born January 4, 1921 in Jeromesville, Ohio to the late Arthur and Anna (nee Frontz) Leibolt. Walter had worked as a mechanic at various Ashland car dealerships, Mansfield Tire Co. and retired from the ODOT District #3 Garage. He served his country from July 20, 1942 until June 23, 1945 as a veteran of the United States Army with the 3132nd Signal Service Company during World War II. He served in the European Theatre, Northern France, Central Europe, Ardennes, Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge. On January 9, 1942 he was married to Hilda Streit and the couple celebrated 50 years of marriage before her death on February 21, 1992. He is survived by one daughter, Rose Marie Huff of Summerville, SC; one son, David Leibolt of Ashland; three grandchildren, Christopher Huff, Andrew (Crystal) Turner and Nicole (Evan) Spencer and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Turner and Colton and Kelsey Spencer. He was preceded in death by his wife Hilda Leibolt; brothers, Frank, Mart, John and Paul Leibolt; sisters, Ivy Jensen, Helen Knox and Kate Fortier; a granddaughter, Heather Huff; a daughter-in-law, Sandy (Case) Leibolt and a son-in-law, Michael Wentzell. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Rev. John Ballinger officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery where the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will provide full military honors. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning until the time of the service at the funeral home.
