Vera C. Shultz, 93 Vera C. Shultz, 93, of Ashland, formerly of Berlin, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 in Hospice of North Central Ohio. Vera was born October 7, 1922 in Nolo, PA the daughter of the late David and Mayme (nee’ Shrecengost) Cramer. Following high school, Vera went on to earn a Bachelors Degree of Education from Indiana State Teachers College in Pennsylvania. She married J. William Shultz on December 20, 1947. Together the couple shared 66 wonderful years together. Vera retired after 30 years of teaching from Berlin Brothersvalley Joint High School where she taught business education. As the wife of a dairy farmer, she was extremely hard working, helping with the milking and keeping the books in addition to her teaching responsibilities. After relocating to Ashland, Ohio, Vera attended Park Street Brethren Church. She and her husband were long time devoted members of Three Seasons Community Church in Berlin. Throughout her life, Vera enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading and international travel with her husband. She was a skilled seamstress having made not only her own beautiful wardrobe, but also items for her children and grandchildren. Vera is survived by her children, John (Jeanie) Shultz, of Ashland and Joan (Dayrl) Merrill, of Muncie, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Nate (Jennifer) Shultz of Ashland, Megan (Frank) Sullivan of Atlanta, Georgia, Joshua (Niti) Clough of Houston, Texas, Michael Clough of Charlotte, North Carolina, Stephan (fiancé Allie) Clough of Charlotte, North Carolina, Andy (Nichole) Merrill of Oceanside, California, Ben (Heather) Merrill of Warrenville, Illinois, Katie (Carlo) Mendoza of San Bernardino, California, Abby (John) Lowe of Mansfield, and Anna (Jonathan) Rainous of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister Mildred Hixon of Hudson, Florida and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her husband J. William Shultz who passed away, October 26, 2013, a daughter, Ellen (Shultz) Clough, brothers Wilmer and David Cramer and sisters Thelma Holby and Mabel Bennett. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Park Street Brethren Church, 619 Park Street, Ashland, Ohio with Reverend Bryan Karchner officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church. An additional visitation will be held, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, PA from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with an interment service to follow in the Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Theological Seminary Foundation, 910 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Three Seasons Community Church, 500 South Street, Berlin, Pennsylvania 15530.
