Robert Harris

Robert D. Harris, 96 Robert Daniel Harris, 96, of Ashland passed away, October 2, 2016. He was born on May 28, 1920 in Akron, Ohio. Bob was the son of the late Shelbert C. and Bertha (Daniels) Harris of Wickliffe, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother, the Reverend Shelbert Harris. Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen (Bromelemeier) Harris of Ashland; two daughters, Michael (Dan) Jackson of Columbus and Jacquelin (Tom) Seddon of Cincinnati; two sons, Bob (Ellen) Harris of Ashland, and Jeff (Theresa) Harris of Brighton, Michigan; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Bob played football and baseball at Shaw High School in East Cleveland and at Miami University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II and was awarded a bronze star. He was called to serve again during the Korean War. Semper Fi. After his military years, Bob and Helen moved to Euclid, Ohio. Bob worked at Bailey Controls as an engineer for more than 40 years and, along with his wife, raised English Setters. Bob retired to Ashland, where he and Helen continued to raise English Setters and enjoy their country life. A private family service will take place at a later date.
