James B. Landis, 87 James Bruce Landis, 87, of Ashland passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Delaware. He was born on June 27, 1929 in Ashland County to the late Ervin and Lela (nee Schaffer) Landis. Jim proudly served in the United States Army in the 24th Airborne Division. Jim married the love of his life, the former Lois Dempsey on August 24, 1951. He retired after more than 26 years from General Motors in 1982 where he worked in the maintenance department. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He is survived by one son, Paul J. Landis of Ashland; one daughter, Karen Brown of Ashland; two grandsons, Justin Brown of Ashland and Jonathon (Megan) Brown of Columbus; and two sisters, Nancy Shambaugh of Ashland and Betty (Vernon) Iceman. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Landis whom passed away on June 7, 2011; one son, Richard Allen Landis; and one infant brother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Freeman officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park.
