Donald Marker

Donald W. Marker, 97 Donald W. Marker, 97, of Ashland passed away, Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Lutheran Village. He was born on December 21, 1918 in Youngstown, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Martha (nee Solomon) Marker. Following high school, Don proudly served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII in the 2nd Bomb Squadron. He married the former Martha Belle Baker on September 25, 1943. The couple would call Ashland home in September of 1956. Don retired after many years from Abbott Labs, previously Faultless Rubber Company. He was a member of the Park Street Brethren Church. Don also was a member of Harry Higgins Post #88 of the American Legion. He is survived by one daughter, Judy (William) Ott of Wooster; three grandchildren, Michelle (Andy) Briggs of Ashland, Hollie (Dave) Vermilya of Polk, and Chad (Missy) Ott of Centerburg; seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents Don is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years of marriage, Mrs. Martha Belle Maker who passed away January 4, 2013; and one daughter, Betty F. Marker on June 7, 1995. Funeral services will be held, Monday, July 18, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Janet Chilcote officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park where the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
