Arlene D. Morr, 83, of Nankin, passed away Tuesday morning October 4, 2016 at Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, following a short illness. She was born February 11, 1933 in Pawtucket, RI. To the late Harold George and Ethel May (Dover) Jones. She moved to Ashland in 1954, following her marriage to her husband Brooks Dean Morr, and worked in the office of Dr. Wayne C. Smith for four years before becoming a stay at home wife and mother. Arlene was an active member of the Nankin Federated Church for 62 years. She had served as secretary to the church council, was a member of the nominating committee, sang in the church choir and served on the funeral dinner committee. She was also an avid collector of many different things. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Brooks and especially loved the Smokey Mountain region and Pigeon Forge. On November 24, 1954 she was married to Brooks Dean Morr in a ceremony in Towson Maryland. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Brooks passed away on December 6, 2013. Surviving are three children, Saundra Jo (Kenny) Purdy of Norwalk, Kathy Lynn (David) Franklin of Ashland and Dean Alan (Rhonda) Morr also of Ashland; six grandchildren, Kenny Purdy Jr, Joseph (Michele) Purdy, Nickolas (Melody) Jordan, Tara Jordan and her fiancé (Jarod Hubbard), Brittany Morr and Brooke (Shane) Kipp and eight great-grandchildren, Rachel, Christopher, Lilah, Gavin, Lailah, Alanah, Caleb and Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Brooks Dean Morr, her step mother, Mildred (Lindamood) Jones and a step sister, Dorothy Todd Frazier. Memorial services will be held Friday October 7, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Nankin Federated Church with Pastor Jake Heskett officiating. A private family burial will be at a later date in the Nankin Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the Nankin Federated Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Nankin Community Church, 795 St. RT. 302, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
